at Purdue University, Carolyn is charged with building a strong foundation
for the Diversity Resource Office with programs such as DiversiKey
and the Diversity Fellows, which are supported by faculty and staff,
programs such as Learning through Experience and Awareness in Diversity,
which places peer mentors with first-year students and Diversity
Roundtable, which is a networking forum that meets five times a year
with 50 members from all across campus. Her goal is to be able to
coordinate more programs that connect the university to business
and industry on diversity issues.
Her background includes jobs as a public school teacher and the
Senior Research Associate for Purdue's African-American Studies and
Research Center. Caroline has been an independent consultant to numerous
school districts on teacher training, curriculum development, instructional
planning and educational administration. She was also the executive
director of Hanna Community
Council, a nonprofit, United Way agency that provides social
services in Tippecanoe County
Caroline received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in elementary
education from Indiana University in 1968 and 1970 and
a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Purdue in 1985. |
